Guidelines For Writing Citations for College Papers

Guidelines For Writing Citations for College PapersCitations can be added to other college papers as part of the revision process. This can be a useful way of ensuring that citations are relevant and that they add to the paper. It is also an excellent way of ensuring that the research has been researched and that the findings are original. Why would you want to cite other papers? There are two reasons. Firstly, citing other papers will add your name to the research and make it more memorable. Secondly, by writing 'citations' at the end of the paper, it makes it easier for people to see that the author has used other sources and it also adds weight to the paper.Citations for college papers should always be accurate. Citing another paper incorrectly will make it look very dodgy. The following guidelines will help to ensure that the citation you write is correct.First, ensure that the paper is well referenced. This means the references should be reliable. If the references are not reliab le, people may assume that the work has been written by someone who does not know what they are talking about. A good reference will help to show that the paper was indeed researched by the author.Secondly, it is important to ensure that your citation contains the name of the writer. Even if it is a direct quote, if it is only linked to the name of the author, then it does not really count as a citation. This means that if you have an article that has been used by the author of the quote, or if your site links back to the author's website, then you should use their name.Thirdly, when you write a citation, ensure that you always link back to the paper. By doing this, it means that the paper is more likely to be found in a search engine and will be seen by many people. If a search engine cannot find the paper, then your citation will be of no use to anyone. Finally, be sure to include your name and a website address when you write a citation. This is so that the citations will be easie r to find. It is often useful to provide a map to the website that you cite from as well. This will make it easier for readers to find the paper and to check that it is genuine.Citations can be a great help to students as they can add to their papers and also help other writers to have access to information that they may not have. Good citations add authenticity to the work. Citations are very easy to write, but when done correctly, they make a major difference to how a paper is written.

How to Compare and Contrast Essay Samples

How to Compare and Contrast Essay SamplesThere are many different ways to find essay samples and then compare and contrast them. An essay is the first part of your written work, and this means that you need to do your research and find essays that are similar to what you have already written. Of course, this will only happen if you take the time to do it correctly. In order to start, you need to visit the websites of a few sample writing sites. This will give you an idea of how many people have already completed the assignment you want to complete. You can also use the different samples to compare and contrast their writing styles and their writing. Keep in mind that each sample is unique in its own way, so you may need to look at several samples to find one that has more than one instance of the same style of writing.Once you have found a few samples to look at, go over them, to see what you like and dislike about them. If the reading is well written, then it is unlikely that you wil l be able to read everything you want to in this form. For this reason, you will need to determine a few qualities that the sample has that are common to all of them. For example, it is most likely that each of the examples you have looked at will have similar parts that will need to be discussed. The part that makes the best contrast could be found by looking at the paragraphs that most matched the essay topic. Once you have found that paragraph, simply go back to the site and read it again. For example, if the writer does not have any dialogue in their paragraph, then it is likely that they would have a single paragraph to make up for it. This could be something that the main character would talk about in his or her paragraph, or something that will occur to the reader. Therefore, you may be able to find an easier comparison on this type of reading. Also, in order to see if you can read everything that is said, you will need to make a good list of examples. You may need to read sever al essays side by side in order to get an idea of how each one has been written. Once you have gotten some ideas, you can then go and compare and contrast them. You will need to do your research in order to get the best essay samples that you can. This is because the most commonly used sample formats may not always be the best. If you know how to read and compare essays and their sample, then you will have a better chance of getting the right one.

Susan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers - 1174 Words

A Jury of Her Peers is a short story written by Susan Glaspell in 1917 and follows the investigation of the murder of John Wright, with his wife Minnie Wright being the alleged murderer. Martha and Lewis Hale assist Sheriff Peters and his wife, Mrs. Peters, with investigating the scene of the crime. Throughout the story, women notice significance in their findings, of which the men overlook. The men have a dismissive attitude towards the women, ignoring their contributions. When the women solve the crime in the end, they do not inform the men of the evidence found, which prevents any conviction. In her short story, A Jury of Her Peers, Susan Glaspell conveys a feminist theme of women being oppressed under male domination and gender roles. She expresses this through the use of irony, symbolism, and characterization. First, Glaspell makes effective use of irony to display the oppression of women and gender roles. During this time period, women had little to no power and they were cons idered unintelligent-- only being able to cook, clean, sew, et cetera. While investigating the scene, the men belittle the women, deeming them to be too unintelligent to provide anything practical to the investigation. Mr. Hale declared, Would the women know a clue if they did come upon it? (Glaspell 370). This statement is ironic, because in the end of the story, the women are the ones who discover the clues that lead them to solving the crime, not the men. Not only do the womenShow MoreRelatedSusan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers1408 Words   |  6 PagesGrowing up in Iowa in the 1800s and 1900s, Susan Glaspell took inspiration for many of her stories from personal experiences. Alzheimers College Essay free essay sample

It is around that time of year again. I can feel the crisp wind coiling around each lock of my hair. The lifeless leaves that lie along the cobble stone road crunch beneath the weight of my heavy heart. It is the anniversary of my Grandfather’s passing and I am reminded of a moment that will haunt me forever. I replay a memory that clarified what I had already known about his fate, but was reluctant to accept. I slowly approached the edge of the pond to lay my hand on my grandfather’s shoulder when, turning to gaze into my eyes, he said, â€Å"I know you belong to me but I don’t remember who you are.† I grew up sheltered from despair. As a little four-year old girl, losing a Barbie to my brother’s evil wrath was a traumatic experience. Being the little seven year old girl excluded from the boy’s baseball games always brought me to tears. We will write a custom essay sample on Alzheimers College Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page At the age of thirteen, my greatest misfortune was facial acne I tried to conceal underneath pounds of makeup. These silly situations had me searching for console. Grandpa’s arms were always open. As he brought me to kidnap my brother’s action figures, taught me how to slide into home plate and washed the makeup off my face, he told conciliatory anecdotes that always seemed to ease my pain. Recounting one life story after another, his pep talks grasped my attention for hours. From family scandals to fighting in Vietnam, there was never a dull moment. But as time elapsed and I grew older, our bond diminished. Regretfully, my grandfather began to fall down my list of priorities. Sharing everyday together turned into twice a week, then twice a month and eventually just holidays. Tragedy struck unexpectedly. Grandpa had fallen prey to Alzheimers. Accepting that my only grandfather would slowly forget my existence was a tragedy in itself; however, the real burden came when I realized he would eventually forget the events in his life that defined him. Every frivolous argument, warm embrace and tear that has ever streamed down his cheek would be erased from his memory. Gone forever. He had reached a time meant for self reflection by immersing himself in memories and reliving life-altering moments; however, my grandfather would never feel the gratification of a flashback. His memories forcibly distorted. Alzheimer’s was no longer an abstract concept. The disease was real, and there was no cure. The years directly preceding his passing were dark times. I witnessed a man I loved unconsciously lose everything he ever cherished. I was forced to battle feelings of regret that stemmed from our dwindling relationship. As I was saying what turned out to be my final goodbye, I can’t say I experienced an epiphany, but it definitely was a transformative moment. It occurred to me that maybe this disease was not a hindrance, but a sanction to truly live. Our journey on earth was not about finding ourselves, but about pushing ourselves to be the person we want to become. Maybe Grandpa was blessed. His ability to rediscover the world around him and everyday recreate himself inadvertently demonstrated that I can create my own future regardless of my past. The reality of human morality rendered all of my dissatisfactions with daily life trivial. Instead of rushing around dwelling on past inadequacies or future problems, Alzheimers taught me to step away from the pressures of society and appreciate the splendor of the moment. Through intense self-reflection and contemplation, I’ve realized how fragile life really is. Alzheimers enabled Grandpa Rosati and me to recognize the beauty of life. What was once just another disease has transformed the way I perceive my surroundings and has endowed me with a new appreciation for life. Through this paradoxically blissful event, I have realized that only in the darkness can one see the stars. Today, I sit here adjacent to the pond a different woman than I was three years ago. I have finally found the silver lining in this dark cloud.

Introspection Essays - Emotions, Shyness, Social Psychology

Introspection Introspection is always a difficult process, and even more so when one is still a teenager, struggling to find oneself, but a prominent aspect of my outward personality which keeps floating up in my mind is shyness. I am sitting in my third grade classroom and the bell rings for class to begin. The list of the days assignments is on the board. I begin Reading, which is first, but also my favorite, and quickly finish. I want to move on, but my teacher has other plans. She begins to discuss the reading and randomly calls on the class for input. I did the work and understood it, but I still hope with every cell in my body that she will not pick me. Silently hunched over, staring at my paper, I plead with fate to let me escape. My entreaties denied, the gods mock me as I hear my name. Suddenly, I forget all the dazzling responses I was fervently planning just in case of an emergency such as this. I wonder why I am left surprised by my witless state; this has become routine. Although this fear is common in the classroom setting, it has translated into my personal life. Only recently have I begun to realize that my misgivings about my worth as a human being may not be entirely my fault. My mother has had a tremendous influence on my life. Over the years she has caused me to fear interaction with others (i.e. the world) for fear her type of harsh judgment be passed. Attempting to improve myself, I read a book intended to coax one out of, or help one deal with shyness. It expounded upon a certain type of mother that seeks out to impress upon her childsubconsciously, of coursethat the world is a terrible place, filled with things that must be feared. The purpose of this is for the child to cling to the loving mother, seeking protection from the outside world. The insidious plan backfires once the child is old enough to question his/her behavior as well as that of the parentsa phase we must all go through at some point. As one might imagine, I was relieved to learn that other people have these difficulties, and more importantly, I should not to blame myself. So what is the big deal, you ask? Everyone has parents he or she can point to as less than perfect, right? Well yes, and it should be noted that I am not trying to escape blame for my state of mind by using the wicked mother bit, an alleged scapegoat frequently used in psychology. If I want to change, I must do it myself. I love my mother, and I know most relationships that exist between parents and teenagers are complicated. However, everyone around me can see (and testifies to) the effects of her aggressive, overbearing behavior, so I think there is due cause for my concern. I flee from confrontation outside the home because I am bombarded with it inside the home. Is there no end to this horrible cycle? There may be hope Prompting from recent teachers has helped me begin to find my voice (indeed proven that I have something to say), and calmed the eternal struggle between introversion and recognition, which plagues all shy people. I am certain this growth will continue throughout my last year of high school and through college, and the benefits of your school will further draw me from my shell. I was also able to get a part in the school play. Although I portrayed a sniveling passive character that was constantly berated, I spoke loudly and clearly, tried not to take myself so seriously, and had fun. I even forgot about my mother for a while too. Acceptance Essays
