Teenage Pregnancy Argumentative Essay Topics
Teenage Pregnancy Argumentative Essay TopicsTeenage pregnancy is a hotly debated topic. The two main arguments against it are that it is a major moral failing on the part of the woman and that it is the fault of society that have allowed this to happen. Both of these arguments are made by the opponents of teenage pregnancy with many other arguments as well. The critics of teenage pregnancy will argue that it is women's fault. They say that in the current social climate women cannot be trusted and so they should not get pregnant. Opponents to teenage pregnancy say that society has allowed this to happen, but they have failed to control it and protect the women from harm. But, in fact, statistics do not support these accusations. In the United States, abortion has been illegal since 1973, there is no doubt that it has brought about an enormous decline in teenage pregnancy and the abortion rate has dropped. Since then, the rate of teenage pregnancy has slowly increased. In fact, in 2020, the rate of teenage pregnancies was higher than that of any other age group. The rate is higher now than it was in 1969.It should also be noted that over the same period, the level of safety for girls has improved, so that there is now less chance of pregnancy among teenage girls. Not only has the legal age of consent for intercourse was raised from 15, but, in many countries, teenage marriage is prohibited. In other words, the legal age of consent has not stopped the increase in teenage pregnancy. If anything, it has brought about an increase in responsibility, and a sense of freedom, which should reduce the number of children which are born out of wedlock. There are also other arguments against teenage pregnancy such as a lower rate of child abuse, which means fewer birth defects. There is also an increase in education, so that more teenage girls are able to attend high school. Also, the socio-economic position of teenagers has improved. It is possible that the argument against teena ge pregnancy is correct. However, there is little that can be done to prevent the issue. Also, we should ask why the argument has been so successful in preventing governments from controlling the issue. Is it because of personal convictions or a lack of understanding of the situation? The short answer is probably a combination of both. For a more detailed answer one needs to look into the issues surrounding the case. But, for the moment, it seems that the argumentative essay topics are reasonable means of arguing against the use of these arguments in any situation.
